The Dominion Energy Charity Classic will once again honor military members and veterans with complimentary admission and on-site hospitality, thanks to Strata Clean Energy

RICHMOND, Virginia – Continuing a proud tradition since the tournament’s inception in 2016, the Dominion Energy Charity Classic will welcome active-duty and veteran military personnel with complimentary admission and access to a dedicated hospitality venue, courtesy of Strata Clean Energy. The Durham, N.C. based company, dedicated to military hiring and training, returns for the fourth consecutive year as the tournament’s Official Military Program Sponsor.

“We’re proud to help build pathways for veterans to thrive in the clean energy sector, where their leadership, discipline, and technical skills are a natural fit,” said Markus Wilhelm, CEO of Strata Clean Energy. “This is our fourth year sponsoring the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, and we’re honored to stand behind its military initiatives once again. Supporting this event allows us to give back to the Virginia communities we serve and to recognize the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans,” Wilhelm added.

The tournament, held October 16-19 at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course, has made a commitment to the military each year since its 2016 debut. For 2025, this includes:

“Beginning with our inaugural event in 2016, the Dominion Energy Charity Classic has prioritized supporting active duty, reserve, retiree and other military service members in the Richmond region and beyond,” said tournament Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld. “With the generous support of Strata Clean Energy, this tradition has been a part of the tournament for ten years now, and we are both pleased and humbled to be able to extend this hospitality as a small thank you to all military members.”

Strata is responsible for developing, building, and maintaining utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems — including more than 35 projects in Virginia that provide emissions-free power to homes and businesses. The company often partners with Dominion Energy to help the Commonwealth meet its goals as part of the Virginia Clean Economy Act, which outlines a path to zero-carbon emissions by 2050.
