Six former Dominion Energy Charity Classic champions commit to compete in the 2025 event
RICHMOND, Virginia – Six former winners of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic will make a return to Richmond to compete in the 2025 tournament. This year marks the 10th edition of the event, which will take place October 16-19 at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course. The top 72 players on the PGA TOUR Champions regular season money list will qualify for the playoffs and the right to compete for the Charles Schwab Cup.
“We are excited to have six of our former champions returning to compete in this year’s Dominion Energy Charity Classic,” said Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld. “Their presence in the field will bring star power, proven excellence and the promise of unforgettable moments for fans who come out to the event.”
New Zealander Steven Alker joined the Champions Tour in 2021 and has quickly accumulated nine wins in less than five full seasons. The 2022 Charity Classic champion won four times that year including his first major at the
Senior PGA Championship. Alker went on to win the Charles Schwab Cup in 2022 and again in 2024. He is currently 3rd in this season’s Schwab Cup standings.
Harrison Frazar won the 2023 Charity Classic but was unable to defend his title in 2024 due to a neck injury that sidelined him for a good portion of the season. The Dallas native and resident returned to the Champions Tour in 2025. He has nine top-25 finishes so far this season and is 50th in the Schwab Cup standings. Frazar was a longtime member of the PGA TOUR and won the 2011 FedEx St. Jude Classic.
2019 Charity Classic champion Miguel Ángel Jiménez is having his best season to date on the Champions Tour. He has four wins in 2025 including his second senior major (Kaulig Companies Championship) and currently leads the Schwab Cup standings. The native of Málaga, Spain has 17 career victories on the senior circuit and an additional 26 wins around the world.
The only two-time champion of the Charity Classic, Bernhard Langer captured the title in both 2017 and 2021. He is the winningest player on PGA TOUR Champions with 47 career victories, was a member of 10 European Ryder Cup teams and is a two-time Masters champion. The native of Germany has won the Charles Schwab Cup four times and is currently 29th in the Schwab Cup standings.
Scott McCarron has the distinction of having won the inaugural Dominion Energy Charity Classic in 2016. He has 11 career victories on the Champions tour with four multi-win seasons. McCarron won three times on the PGA TOUR. He sits in 61st place in the Schwab Cup standings. The native of Sacramento, CA now resides in Mooresville, NC.
Defending champion Tim O’Neal captured his first professional win at the 2024 Dominion Energy Charity Classic, firing a final-round 65 on his way to a three-day total of 13-under par. The Savannah, GA native went on to a 14th place finish in the final Schwab Cup standings. He is 34th in the 2025 standings.
