Foursome of major champions add their names to the field for the 2025 Dominion Energy Charity Classic

RICHMOND, Virginia – The player field for the Dominion Energy Charity Classic just became even stronger, as four of golf’s major champions have committed to play in the 2025 event. This year’s tournament will take place October 16-19 at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course. The top 72 players on the PGA TOUR Champions regular season money list will qualify for the playoffs and the right to compete for the Charles Schwab Cup.

Two-time (2007, 2008) Open Championship winner Padraig Harrington is having a standout season with two wins, including the U.S. Senior Open Championship, and five top-10 finishes. The 2008 PGA Championship is also among Harrington’s six PGA TOUR victories. The Dublin, Ireland native has 11 wins in his first four seasons on PGA TOUR Champions. He was a member of six European Ryder Cup teams and served as the captain for the 2021 matches. Harrington is currently 5th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.

Retief Goosen had seven wins during his PGA TOUR career including the 2001 and 2004 U.S. Open. He has a total of 24 worldwide titles and has four Champions Tour victories including the 2025 Sanford International. The six- time member of the Presidents Cup International team is from Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg), South Africa and is 8th in the Schwab Cup standings.

Justin Leonard joined the Champions Tour in 2023 and captured his first win earlier this year at the Chubb Classic. He won 12 times on the PGA TOUR including the 1997 Open Championship and the 1998 PLAYERS Championship. Currently 14th in the Schwab Cup standings, Leonard is from Dallas, TX.

Originally from Lautoka, Fiji, Vijay Singh had one of the best seasons ever recorded on the PGA TOUR, winning nine times in 2004. Of his 34 victories on the PGA TOUR, three were major championships – the 1998 and 2004 PGA Championship and the 2000 Masters – and he was the 2008 FedExCup champion. He also has five Champions Tour wins to his credit, the most recent coming at The Ally Challenge in 2023. He is 22nd in the Schwab Cup standings.

"It's a testament to the timeless talent of the game of golf that these four major champions have committed to play in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic,” said Steve Schoenfeld, Executive Director of the tournament. “Their presence not only elevates the competition, but it will also inspire fans with the enduring greatness of champions who continue to give back to the game."
