Field Set For 2025 Dominion Energy Charity Classic
First playoff event field has combined for 424 wins across PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions
RICHMOND, Virginia – With the conclusion of the 2025 PGA TOUR Champions regular season, the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs begin this week with the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. The tournament will see a 69-player field competing for a $2.3 million purse October 17-19 at The Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course.
The players set to tee it up this week in Richmond have combined to win 204 PGA TOUR events and 220 PGA TOUR Champions events. In addition, 12 players who have won a PGA TOUR major and 14 players who have won a PGA TOUR Champions major are among those playing in this year’s Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
Former champion and current Charles Schwab Cup No. 1 Miguel Ángel Jiménez (2019) is joined by five other past champions as the event celebrates its 10th year: Charles Schwab Cup No. 3 Steven Alker (2022), No. 27 and World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer (2021, 2017), No. 31 and defending champion Tim O’Neal (2024), No. 53 Harrison Frazar (2023), and No. 65 Scott McCarron (2016).
With Jiménez entering the week atop the Schwab Cup standings, he is followed closely by Stewart Cink (No. 2), Alker (No. 3), and World Golf Hall of Fame members Ernie Els (No. 4) and Padraig Harrington (No. 5). Alker (2022, 2024) is the only player from the grouping to win the Charles Schwab Cup.
The Dominion Energy Charity Classic is the first event in the three-tournament Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs. This week’s event will see players competing with even more on the line, as each Playoff event provides double points ($1 = 2 points). At the conclusion of the tournament, the top 54 players in the Schwab Cup standings will advance to the second playoff event – the Simmons Bank Championship (Oct. 24-26) in Little Rock, Arkansas. The top 36 players will advance to the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship (Nov. 13-16) at Phoenix Country Club.
All three rounds of the Dominion Energy Charity Classic will be televised on Golf Channel, airing from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (EDT), Friday through Sunday.
